Pinellas Point Tocobaga Temple Mound

This is located in a residential neighborhood called Pinellas Point, St. Petersburg, which is known for pink streets. I originally visited this Indian mound with a friend from Ireland who had heard of the area's Indian Mounds.

On Bethel Way side, there are several information boards provided by the Daughters of the American Revolution. One board shares the story of Princess Hirrihigua and Juan Cortez. Another information board shares the history of the Calusa Indian Mound. A dedication stone is on side of Mound Place.

Location: Mound Place & Bethel Way South, St. Petersburg, FL.
There are two entrances, one on Mound Place and one on Bethel Way.

Maximo Park Indian Midden

Source: Virtual Explorations - In the nearby woods is a nature trail that runs along the top of a historic midden. If you look closely you will see that the mound runs 1200 feet along the shore from the woods through the picnic area.

One web site reports the temple mound and horseshoe-shaped midden are gone now.

Location: Maximo Park, St. Petersburg, FL.

City Web site says there is an Indian Midden. However, I have not located this yet. I will continue to search the park.
